How to Build Your ESL Resume

Written by International TEFL Academy Costa Rica

As you prepare to come to Costa Rica for the TESOL course, try to organize your information for your CV/resume and bring it with you, especially if you plan to stay and teach once the course is completed.  As always, try to sell yourself, but keep it short and sweet.  If it’s too long or wordy, possible employers won’t even take the time to read it.

Please see the link for a sample of what an international ESL resume should look like.  We’d like to point out that you will definitely notice some things that are quite different from a resume we are used to; in fact, some of the differences are illegal for a possible employer to ask for back home!  But note that employers within the world of ESL will be looking for them.  Also pay attention to other hints and helpful suggestions to make a resume that stands out.

In our 4-week, onsite TESOL course, we spend more time looking at the resume, cover letters and other important things you need to know about finding an ESL teaching job!  Talk to us about signing up for your course!
