What to Pack

Written by International TEFL Academy Costa Rica

We know the thought of packing for a trip like this can be overwhelming, but don’t forget the following:

•Photocopy of your passport and credit cards
•Insect Repellent
•Sunscreen
•Flashlight
•Umbrella and/or light wind/rain jacket
•Good walking shoes
•Sport sandals/flip-flops
•Sunglasses
•Towel
•Bathing suit
•Shorts and long pants
•Clothing to layer according to the weather and changes throughout the day

Some cash!  You never know when you might have issues with your debit or credit cards, so have some money on hand.  Just a heads up, banks in Costa Rica will not accept ripped or damaged dollars, so please ensure all bills are in good shape as you prepare for your trip!

While you are in the course, you will need the following:

• Laptop computer (wireless access at the school).  This is required!
• Resume information, references’ updated contact information to prepare for your job search.
• Flash (zip) drive
• Grammar Book: Understanding and Using English Grammar by Betty Schrampfer Azar (Please buy a copy BEFORE coming to Costa Rica, as they can sometimes be difficult to find and generally more expensive.)

You are welcome to dress comfortably but presentable for regular class time. Please bring professional attire for all practical teaching experiences and job interviews.  Men should be wearing slacks, collared shirts, etc. Women typically wear skirts or slacks with professional tops. You are not allowed to wear flip-flops while you are teaching!
