TEFL Training In Costa Rica | Updated: 03/06/2023

Will I be able to Join a Gym in Costa Rica?

Written by International TEFL Academy Costa Rica

Absolutely!  There are many options for working out while you are in Costa Rica, especially in Barva and Heredia.  So have no fear!  Please don't let this keep you from making your dream of living abroad a reality!

There are a number of parks in Barva and Heredia that are equipped with workout equipment for community members, and there are regular Zumba classes scheduled in communities around Barva as well. These classes typically charge a small fee (around 2 or 3 USD) or are free!  Furthermore, there are multiple gyms, dance academies and martial art studios in both Barva and Heredia.  Check them out for more information on prices, schedules and available amenities.

Barva

Gyms

DMC Fitness, one block away from the school.  TESOL students have signed up for a month-long contract and have also paid for day passes for the equipment and for classes.

Balance, four blocks from the school.

Fut5 Suelo Tico, three blocks from the school. This is also where our teachers and grads play soccer every Wednesday night!

Dance Academy

Boreal, on the same block as the school.  Latin dancing, hip hop and even pole dancing!

Martial Arts

Academia Dragon, four blocks from the school.

Heredia

Gym

Palacio de los Deportes, by the soccer stadium.

Dance Academy

Merecumbe, by the national university. The most famous dance studio in the country!

Most of these gyms and academies offer memberships on a monthly basis, not a year-long contract, or charge an affordable daily fee for use of equipment or to take a class. You will be able to find exactly what you're looking for in your new home!  And now that you know, contact us today to save your spot in one  of our 4-week, onsite TEFL  courses!
