For starters, an entire army of ESL teachers left Costa Rica during the pandemic. The reality is they could not work during this time, so thousands of experienced ESL teachers had to go home. While this is heartbreaking for many, this provides the greatest demand in ESL Teaching history.
In addition to this, Costa Rica has been stable since the start of 2022, and things seem to have returned back to "normal". Costa Ricans, who have been cooped up in their homes for years, are excited to get out of their homes and do things in person again. Like everyone else in the world, they are tired of teaching in squares.
